IDC Online Course Development Program
The Instructional Development Center will initiate its Online Course Development Program beginning in January 2009. Faculty members, who are planning to offer hybrid or fully online courses in the summer 2009 or fall 2009 terms, should plan to participate in this program. The program includes six primary online course development areas. The areas are:
- Building the Online Course Structure and Organization;
- Effective Use of Web-Supported Instructional and Communication Tools (e.g., discussion board, chat, blogs, wikis, video, podcasting, powerpoint w/ audio);
- Developing Critical Thinking Skills for Online Students;
- Developing Instructional Products using Blackboard Compatible Software (e.g., Camtasia, Softchalk, Impatica, Raptivity, Audacity);
- Developing and/or utilizing Online Assessments and Rubrics; and
- Utilizing a Quality Assurance Standards to evaluate previous, current and/or future online courses
Faculty members may choose any or all of the areas to support the development of their online course in conjunction with IDC. A session or several sessions are held individually with each participant. Those faculty members who choose to participate are asked to complete an IDC Online Course Development Project Form outlining basic course information and the area(s) for development. When accessing the form enable the options botton if prompted, complete the form and save to your files. Mail or email the completed form to Dr. Fred Kolloff.
